New York Mindfulness was founded by 7 meditation teachers, all graduates of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP), led by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.

Ingrid Ducmanis

Ingrid Ducmanis has been practicing mindfulness meditation since 2007 and has attended several silent retreats at the Insight Meditation Society and Spirit Rock. ​In addition to her MMTCP certification, she is a graduate of the Mindfulness Mentor Training Program led by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.

 

Ingrid’s teaching style is known for its relatability and humor. Having worked in advertising for more than 20 years, she is a passionate mindfulness ambassador in corporate spaces, focused on supporting people to show up as their authentic selves, especially in the workplace, and helping teams explore the powerful relationships between mindfulness and creativity.

Ana Grosse MMTCP Teacher

Founding Teacher

Ana Grosse

Ana (she/her) began meditating in 1995 when she attended her first 10-day silent retreat. Since then she has been committed to a mindfulness meditation practice and has done retreats in India, Australia, Brazil and the US. She is a graduate of MMTCP and the Mindfulness Mentor Training Program led by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.

Ana is passionate about reducing suffering in the world and cultivating well-being, particularly through the heart practices of lovingkindness, compassion, joy and equanimity. As an artist originally from Argentina and an avid traveler, she brings an understanding of multicultural perspectives and creativity to her classes, one-on-one sessions and retreats.

Barbara Reid MMTCP Teacher

Founding Teacher

​Barbara provides instruction and practice of Mindfulness Meditation through participation in a local sangha as well as teaching classes and leading day-long retreats, in person and via Zoom.

 

Barbara is a founder of Monmouth Insight Meditation Group, a weekly sangha that meets in Rumson, NJ, and on Zoom. She has participated in leading the group since 2018.


Barbara began meditating in 2013 and has deepened and enhanced her daily home practice by participating in five to seven day silent retreats since 2019.

    Mudit Rungta

    ​Mudit (he/him), who has been practicing mindfulness since the age of 12, brings a deep personal understanding to teaching. Living a working lay monk lifestyle, Mudit’s approach is rooted in real-life experiences, offering practical tools to navigate life's ups and downs with peace and clarity.

    ​Emphasizing the transformative power of mindfulness, Mudit helps students cultivate resilience and maintain a state of being that transcends daily challenges. It’s not just a practice, but a way of living that encourages students to embrace mindfulness as a path to greater self-awareness, balance, and inner calm in everyday life.​​

    Marta Visu MMTCP Teacher

    Marta Visu

    Going through two years of training with inspiring teachers Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield, has opened up a world of understanding and compassion. Originally from Transylvania, Romania, Marta lived and worked in New York for over 30 years. She discovered mindfulness about 10 years ago and has been practicing and teaching ever since.

     

    She would love to share her passion in finding happiness with other immigrants. ​She graduated from James Baraz's “Awakening Joy” and Oren Jay Sofer’s Non Violent Communication. Currently Marta offers classes on “Looking for the Good“, introduction to Mindfulness or creates customized lessons according to requirements.

    Iris Lentjes MMTCP Teacher

    Iris Lentjes

    Iris Lentjes (she/her), a 2023 MMTCP graduate, offers affordable mindfulness classes both online and in person. Balancing a corporate job by day, she makes mindfulness accessible to everyone.

     

    Her method emphasizes genuine and direct experiences. Practicing Zen since 2019, Iris' secular and practical approach includes 1 hour introductory classes, 90-minute sessions, and half-day retreats. ​Classes are held on weekday evenings and weekends across Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Her teachings focus on cultivating inner peace through QiGong movements and mindfulness meditations focused on breath, body, emotions and thoughts.

    Colin Dempsey

    Colin is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher and vibroacoustic practitioner who combines mindfulness with vibroacoustic therapy to enhance relaxation, healing, and overall well-being. He is dedicated to supporting beginners in the LGBTQ+ communities and those in recovery. Colin is passionate about teaching loving-kindness meditations and mindfulness to beginners, fostering inner peace and personal growth with compassion.
